We're avid golfers and carry handicaps from 3 to 23. Our #1 priority is to provide the best package possible with a superb level of service. We're local and that is very important to you for a variety of reasons. Your golf vacation package will be assembled with the exact detail that is required. We'll check and recheck every detail. We'll work with you so that you'll have the best golf vacation ever!

We are pleased that you have entrusted your golf vacation to Golf Trek. Relax, enjoy the sun, your partners, and the challenge of the courses. Being a group leader requires organizational skills, lots of patience and a sense of humor. Please take the time to review the following policies with the members of your group by fax or e-mail. To avoid confusion, Golf Trek will not accept changes or direct payments from your group members. All trip changes must come from you, the group leader.

Price-wise am I better off going through Golf Trek or trying to contact all the golf courses and my lodging choice myself?
More than likely you will save money by going through Golf Trek. Along with that, you let us do all the work that it requires to put together a golf package, saving you time and work in the process. Remember that we do this every day and there's a reason the majority of our customers become repeat customers. We provide a service, to you, the golfer.

Can I book a package through Golf Trek online without ever contacting Golf Trek by phone or email?
This is a practice we don't recommend. At Golf Trek we provide a service. Part of that service is the one on one communication with the customer in order to insure that everything is set up correctly.

I want to fill out a price quote request, but do I really have to fill out all those answers to the questions?
In order to provide you with the most appropriate price quote we need as much information about your proposed golf outing as possible. It's funny to look at the numerous price quotes that we receive from people who want to know how much a golf package will cost, but they don't know when they want to come nor how many days they want to play. If this is the case, just look at our specials and you can get a pretty good idea of your options. Once your plans become a little more clear, feel free to contact us. We'd love to hear from you. Let's Talk Some Golf...Soon.

Our spouses don't play golf. How much would it cost for them to join us for the trip?
Spouses will not be charged for any golf if they don't play; therefore, we will gladly arrange a price for any non-golfer based on lodging only, as long as there are some golfers in the group. Non-golfers will be charged at the course if they ride along at the golf course.

What is the difference between staying at a hotel or a condominium on a golf package?
Condos are great if you want extra room. Most of our condos typically have 2 bedrooms with 2 beds in each room, a full kitchen, dining and living room areas and a patio or porch. Some condos even have extra amenities. If you stay at a condo you're not going to come back from a round of golf and have your bed made up and the towels picked up from the floor like a hotel though. Daily maid service can be available for an additional cost though. Whether you stay at a hotel or a condo you don't have to bring sheets, linens, towels, etc. They are always provided.

How long will it take me to drive to Myrtle Beach?
Driving time from Charlotte and Raleigh NC is approximately 3 hours to Myrtle Beach. Driving time from Richmond, Virginia to Myrtle Beach is approximately 4 1/2 hours. Washington, DC to Myrtle Beach is approximately 6 1/2 hours. If you are coming from Atlanta, Georgia, your looking at about 6 hours. From Jacksonville, Florida, it is about 5 1/2 hours. Of course, it all depends on who is driving and how close to the speed limits you stay.

Will Golf Trek arrange my air travel for me?
We've learned to do what we do best and that involves arranging the lodging and golf for our golfers. Your best bet if you know you want to fly into the Carolinas is to look at the various Internet travel sites, such as Orbitz.com, Expedia.com, Travelocity.com or call the airlines directly to get a plane ticket. We advise that you get the air schedule straightened out first prior to making the golf arrangements. When looking at airports, besides Myrtle Beach, you can also consider flying into Charleston, SC (1 1/2 hours south), Wilmington, NC (1 1/2 hours north, or even Florence, SC (1 1/4 hours west). We can arrange to have you play a round at a course not far from the airports on your way into the Myrtle Beach area.  The same holds true for your flight back home.

If I'm flying into the Carolinas, will I need a car to get around to all the courses?
Without a doubt, a rental car is a great idea. There just aren't a whole lot of taxis in the Myrtle Beach area and mass transportation is virtually non-existent. Golf Trek recommends that you check out the car rental website www.vigood.com. All types of vehicles are available. Just keep in mind that "vans" are at a premium in the Spring. ViGood has access to the best supply of vans in the area.

I've looked on a map and can't find the Brunswick Isles that I've heard about. Where is it?
You're not alone. The reference is really to Brunswick County, NC. That's the county between Myrtle Beach, SC and Wilmington, NC. Quite a lot of the Myrtle Beach courses are technically located in the Brunswick area of Calabash, Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle. Many courses in the Brunswick area promote themselves as Myrtle Beach courses.

How and when do I pay for my golf package?
If you book your package well in advance, we ask that each golfer pay a deposit within two weeks from the time the package is booked. The per person deposit is $ $100. To allow for enough time to get the final package information to you, please pay the balance at least 30 days prior to your arrival date. You may pay by money order, certified check, Visa or Master Card. On a booking with short notice, the deposit or balance may have to be paid at the time of the booking.

How is the Final Payment handled?
DO NOT have each individual member of your group call us with their payments. For example, in March and April, individual calls would mean several thousands of calls... We can't possibly handle that many calls and still provide the excellent service our groups enjoy. If they call us, we'll immediately tell them to call you! Also, by securing all of the payments, you'll know who is in and who won't come... You can then replace those members on a timely basis.

What happens if it rains during my trip?
Become a mudder...put on your web feet and rain suit. The last thing anyone would want on a golf trip is rainy weather but it can happen!! Here is how rain outs are handled. Once a golf package begins, no refunds may be made for any portion except for COURSE CLOSURES. All area golf courses have a no-show policy throughout the year, meaning that they do not give refunds unless the course is closed for play. The courses make these decisions and many offer only a Rain Check as compensation. In order to make advance tee-times we must abide by the individual course policy on Rain Checks. Golf Trek will not be able to issue a refund unless you have the golf course voucher "signed off" by the golf course Professional indicating they will not bill Golf Trek for the round. Upon receiving your "signed off" voucher, Golf Trek can either (a) refund your golf fees less a $10.00 per person administration fee or (b) issue you a full credit to be used towards any course on your next Golf Trek trip. All refunds or credits will be issued after verification of golf course billing and by the 30th of the month following the month of your trip. NO CHANGES ARE TO BE MADE TO ANY VOUCHER WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL BY GOLF TREK. Golf Trek will give you an approved code to make your voucher changes.

What if one of my group members can't come at the last minute?
Every case is different, but we'll show you a common situation. Assume a golf trip is booked for 8 golfers who are staying in a condo in April. 4 nights and playing 4 rounds, for example. The day before the trip starts a golfer has a family emergency and can't make the trip and it's too late to get a replacement golfer. First of all, contact us and let us know only 7 people will be playing. We will ask you to reflect the change in your group's number to 7 on your course voucher. We will provide you with the proper authorization code. We will then notify all the courses. If the course charges us for 8 people we can't provide a refund for that round of golf, but if they only bill us for 7, we'll gladly give a refund. The amount of notice that we give to the courses is normally the determining factor. We get the bills from each course in the early part of the month after the golf is played. Refunds are then sent out a week or so after the bills are all received --approximately 30 days after your trip.

What is a Surcharge?
A surcharge is an additional fee you pay over and above the base cost of golf when you choose to play premium courses. Surcharges reflect a higher cost of green fees than what is included in the base price non surcharge courses.

Are Replays available?
Are subject to availability on the day you play. To increase your chance of replay, play early, 1st out is 1st back in and has 1st chance of replay.... Choose courses that have multiple courses or sister courses nearby. Play courses where local members don't take the majority of the afternoon times... or get a guaranteed replay with a Golf Trek Guaranteed afternoon Tee Time. Give your GolfMaster a call to explore your possibilities.

The Key in playing 2 rounds on the same day is IF you have time to actually PLAY 2 courses, eat lunch and travel between the courses. You've got to start early in the morning. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME STARTS the 1st Sunday in April and ENDS the LAST Sunday in October. DAYLIGHT in FEBRUARY, MARCH and NOVEMBER is RESTRICTED. If you plan on a 4 1/2 hour round in the AM and a 5 hour round in the PM...then you've got time in between for lunch and travel. Most courses open at 7:30 AM in February and March. PLAN WISELY.

TRIP TIPS

  • Weekend Tee Times (Thursday-Sunday) are very tight in the Spring and Fall. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you PRE-BOOK GUARANTEED AFTERNOON REPLAYS. Saturday Afternoon (Friday Night Partying) and Sunday morning (everybody leaves for home in the afternoon) are the toughest tee times to obtain .Friday night is the best night to party as most clubs stay open till 4 am. On Saturday night most clubs stop serving at midnight (so you'll be able to get ready for early church services). FLY IN...1st day of play...most airlines arrive before 11 AM. It will normally take 30 to 45 minutes to get your luggage, golf clubs and arrange for your rental car. You are now ready to proceed to get lunch, warm up and start your round. There are 20 courses within 15 minutes of our centrally located airport. Play a course near the Myrtle Beach airport, then later check in at your lodging property after finishing your round. If you fly into Charleston we'll get you on Rivertowne, Arnold Palmer's 4.5 star gem, enroute to Myrtle Beach. If you fly into Wilmington or Raleigh we'll book your group on an excellent course enroute. DRIVE IN...1st day of play or last day driving home. Play a course enroute. This plan saves precious sun time and local traffic congestion during peak playing time. Golf Trek will email your tee time vouchers, maps and directions to you so you'll be able to go directly to your course.

  • Our website can be your best friend in communicating with your group members. Golf Trek's website is 465 pages of information on the courses you'll play and the lodging where you'll stay. Tell all of your group members to pull up our website and take a look.
