As a lad, at age 5, I started chasing the ball and I’ve been at it ever since. I played junior golf, golf in high school and college. I carried a zero handicap for years and now with a tempermental back, play to a 5 handicap. I’ve played golf all over the US and go out on packages to various locations several times a year.

Further, I sneak out and play lots of golf on the Grand Strand… will probably get to 170 rounds this year. I wish I could play more. I can remember playing and walking 54 to 63 holes per day – swept the dew in the morning and brought the flags in when I quit.
I’ve met a lot of fine people in my golfing life. Year after year since 1979, I’ve booked tens of thousands of packages for many golfers who’ve become my friends.

When I travel to other parts of the country to play golf, I want to talk to an Expert… one who knows the lay of the land. I want informed recommendations and local knowledge of the courses.

• What courses are rated the highest locally and statewide?
• Which courses should I avoid?
• Which courses are BE$T BUY$…best value for my money?

If I’ve played courses in their area, I then want them to compare the courses I know to the ones I might play. I want an objective opinion based on the Facts… Not Hype… Or Bull. Layout my options so I can make an informed decision.

In Myrtle Beach, you have many factors to consider in choosing the company or person who you will work with in planning your golf vacation. In my 25+ years at the beach, I’ve found the following:

• 95% of the people want to book their own rooms. Golf is an after thought. They don’t have a clue.
• Conflicts of interest abound as many lodging properties own golf courses and vice versa. Guess which courses you’ll be playing ???
• Booking agents outside of Myrtle Beach may only be able to book at a limited number of courses.
• Booking agents / travel agents come and go (out of business). Quite a few have gone bankrupt in the highly competitive Myrtle Beach golf market — OOPS! There goes your money and your trip.
• 40% of the accommodation properties at the beach are substandard.
• Lower priced packages normally are less because of substandard accommodations and poor conditioned courses.
