Bald Head Island - Step Back In Time ... It's the summer of '42 and you're on a remote semi-tropical island...No cars, no hustle or bustle. Golf carts and bicycles are your only mode of transportation. Your acre putting green is not for putting...it's for croquet and lawn bowling. A gentile oasis in a center of calm. The course you'll be playing is the "jewel" of George Cobb's designs. Through the years, Cobb's work has been so admired that he was assigned to be the lead consultant in the renovation of Augusta National. Bald Head Island is reached from the mainland by a 20 minute ferry ride across the Cape Fear River. The island is 10,000 acres of magnificent soaring, white dunes surrounded by lush tropical palm trees, salt marshes, tidal creeks, fresh water lagoons and framed by the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. You'll find the teeth of the Atlantic breeze on holes 16, 17 and 18. Imagine needing to hit driver from the standard men's tee box on the 187 yard Par 3 16th and barely reached the green. That can happen if the wind is blowing off the ocean. The course was opened in 1972 and its maturity goes a long way to making your round enjoyable as well as challenging. The pace of play is relaxed over this seaside gem. This course is like no other course in the Myrtle Beach area. Golfmaster Jerry says it's like being on his own home course in Jamaica. The club has a full amenity package with a complete fully stocked pro shop, practice facility, and a superb restaurant and bar for your dining pleasure...or sip a tall cool one on the large veranda overlooking the windswept finishing holes. Bald Head Island is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by all the Golfmasters as one of most UNIQUE and FINEST DAYS OF GOLF you'll ever pl ay.
