Myrtle Beach Golf Courses keeping up with the heat

A very interesting article was published yesterday in the local newspaper, The Myrtle Beach Sun News.  It speaks about the length and depth golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area have to go to, in order to keep playing conditions up to par…no pun intended.

The entire country has experienced record heat.  For the month of June South Carolina averaged 6 degrees warmer…it was the warmest on record….funny since we had the coldest winter as well….which makes you wonder about the whole global warming thing.

Anyway,  the article in the sun news talks about what golf courses are doing with different types of grass to keep optimum conditions.  It’s definitely worth the read and may give you a better appreciation for maintenance.  Let us know what you think.  As always our Golfmasters are always a good local source of information.

Myrtle Beach’s Pearl Golf Course Upgrades

The Pearl golf course has been making news with renovations to continually upgrade the course.  As part of their continued investment in the course they will have brand new granite tee signs, as well as 3D Yardage books.  The books are for sale at a nominal price, but are completely updated based on the latest changes at the course.

They also added a flyover of each hole on their website.  3d Flyover East Course and 3d flyover west course

Here is a picture to give you an idea.

121 Holes of Myrtle Beach in 4 Days

This past weekend, I had my best childhood friends down from Boston for a golf bender. They left Boston on Spirit Air at the crack of dawn and were on the ground ready for some golf by 730 AM Friday morning. Now that is a flight that is tough to beat!

We stayed in fabulous brand new condos at Crow Creek Villas and were able to drop off our gear prior to our 1st round.

Here was the schedule for the weekend

Friday Aberdeen
Saturday AM Barefoot Fazio
Saturday PM Barefoot Norman
Sunday AM Sea Trail Maples
Sunday PM Sea Trail Byrd
Monday AM Pearl East
Monday PM Pearl West
Fly Home

What a weekend. While the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida challenged us the 1st two days, we were rewarded with mid 70’s and sunny for the last two days.

Here are some action videos from the weekend. You can beat the ease of getting to Myrtle Beach, the quality of the golf courses in myrtle beach, and the price.
